Pregnancy to Postpartum

The Incredible Transformation of the Female Body

The human body—especially a woman’s—never ceases to amaze me.

There are exactly three months between these two pictures. On the left, I am 40 weeks pregnant; on the right, I am 13 weeks postpartum. And what a transformation it has been.

So, how did I go from carrying life at 68kg to feeling like myself again in just three months? Let’s break it down.

Yoga: Embracing the Vinyasa of Life

Before becoming a mother, my yoga practice looked very different—two-hour classes filled with inversions, deep stretches, and undisturbed flow. Now, I feel lucky if I get 45 minutes on the mat, and a half-headstand feels like an achievement.

But as my wonderful yoga teacher Liz once told me, “Yoga is so many things. You are finding new rhythms… the vinyasa of life. Go like the Kurma.”

In Hindu philosophy, Kurma, the tortoise, symbolizes stability amidst change, the ability to withdraw inward, and the wisdom of going slow. And that’s exactly what I’ve embraced. Some days, my practice is just breathwork. Other days, it’s gentle stretching while my baby naps. And that’s okay—because yoga evolves with us.

Lifestyle: Strength in Movement

Living in Spain is a blessing—endless blue skies and sun-filled days mean we rarely miss a daily walk. I’ve also become a devoted baby carrier enthusiast, and I truly believe that carrying my baby all over Madrid helped me regain my core strength. The heavier she grows, the stronger I become.

Nutrition: Nourishing Myself & My Baby

With a husband from the south of Spain and a passion for Mediterranean cuisine, our meals are naturally fresh and wholesome—vibrant salads, ripe fruits, fresh fish, and the occasional indulgence.

However, since my little one is intolerant to cow’s milk, and I’m breastfeeding, I’ve had to adjust. Store-bought treats are out, homemade cakes are in. The silver lining? I get to experiment, making desserts that are both delicious and nourishing. Because balance is everything.

This journey has been a reminder that transformation isn’t just about physical change. It’s about adapting, listening to our bodies, and moving with grace—both on and off the mat.

Wherever you are in your postpartum journey, be kind to yourself. The body knows what to do. Trust it.
